You asked for it! Funtry Friday

If you think you are have deja vu from last Friday, you may be right. But what self-respecting grammy wouldn't take an opportunity to show off her "grands"?

Heart-made treasures!

Okay. I confess. I am not quite a Pinterest addict, but I do like searching around there a bit because there are some very creative tutorials to be found. Yep, I confess. I LOVE to give and receive handmade gifts. I really think they should be called heart-made gifts, though, because so much thought and effort go into them that they become a gift from heart to heart.

On a recent tour of Pinterest, I found these great ideas:

A tutorial on a variety of ways to make your own stamps - and some fun ways to use them.
What a fun way to decorate special Christmas cards!

How to create some very pretty paper towel art.
This craft has soooo many possibilities.

A how-to with great photos for some very cute kid's art smocks.
I can see some little artists using these!

Creative backgrounds for journal pages - wow!
These background would be great for cards, too - or just about anything!

Turn old t-shirts into a very fun scarf.
Hmmm.... I think I have some extra t-shirts around here.

Have fun with a "progressive watercolor" painting.
Christmas cards, birthday cards, little paintings - so many possibilities!

Easy instructions to create a fun collage.
Another pretty heart-made treasure!

Handmade Christmas is my favorite so I was delighted to find these pretty crafts posted on Pinterest. Have you found something fun there that you want to make?

Happy Creating!

A Call Echoes...

Through the generations

there are echoes.

A
Birth.
Adoption.
Mentoring.
Foster Care.
Foster Adoption.
Child Sponsorship.
Hope.
Love.

November is National Adoption Awareness Month.

But the truth is there will still be children waiting to be adopted
in December, and January, and February, and...

And, no, you don't have to be perfect. You just have to answer the call.

Funtry Friday - I know what you want to see!

Jubilee!
Born Monday, November 19
7 pounds 13 ounces

Blessed bundle of joy and fun!

Yes, little Jubilee just fits in the tiny doll cradle that her great-grandpa made for her Mama.

Somehow I just knew this was what you wanted to see on this Thanksgiving Funtry Friday. I have many things to be thankful for this year - and my family tops the list. Welcome to the world, Jubilee!

Happy Thanksgiving!
Blessings,
Kathy

PS The Blogging Business Artisans want to know what I am thankful for this Thanksgiving. Should I show them a few more pictures? *winks*

November Challenge - Janet (Honey from the Bee) - Gratitude
Living with Gratitude is my goal, but certainly at Thanksgiving we all stop to think about what we're thankful for. How does gratitude play a part in your life? Create something that shows your gratitude.

Baby it's cold outside! Freezey Funtry Friday

Brrrrr! It is getting cold around here. Definitely time to toss a log on the fire and warm up - that is, if I could get to the stove...

I guess Cookie wants to warm up, too!

Ummmm... and look who tried to follow me inside...

I don't know, Hershey - I just flat don't think this is going to work so well! Seriously, I think he would have followed me right inside the house! LOL

...unlike Lova - who is very happy wandering around in the Hollyhocks.

The cooler weather seems to suit her just fine, though she does like to come inside when the temperature drops to burrrr degrees!

Fortunately, these guys are staying outside - though I have no idea how they are surviving the freezing temperatures. I just saw another one today...

Seriously.

Mama Hen and her babies seem to be enjoying the weather, too.

The babies are so cute - one of them even has the same little "top knot" that Mama has!

Well, I hope it's not too cold for you in your neck of the woods. We are still having some lovely days followed by cold nights. There have been lots of mornings with ice on all the water buckets and even the big horse tank. Definitely looking like fall around here!

Happy Funtry Friday!

Veterans Day

Today is Veterans Day - a day for us to honor and thank all who have served in the United States Armed Forces.  It is also Remembrance Day in Canada.

Thank you to all who have and who are serving our nations that we might enjoy freedom!

Today is the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church - a day to pray for those who face prison, torture, and death because in their countries Christianity is not welcome.

Dear Lord, their prayer is to stand firm and honor You - not to be hidden and safe, but to be bold witnesses to Your Grace, Mercy, and Salvation. Please abundantly bless my brothers and sisters in Christ as they serve You in their countries!

This month is National Adoption Month - raising awareness of the needs of children in Foster Care who are waiting to be adopted.

Adoption - one small word that holds so much hope and so much fear for so many people - young and old. Thank you to all the bold, brave parents who step out to answer the call to adopt. You are changing the world - one life at a time!

Thanksgiving will be celebrated in the United States on November 22.  For many this will be a day to gather together and give thanks to God for the many blessings that we have.

I have a long list of blessings to give thanks for - how about you?

Paste it, Daddy - paste it!

Do you remember that line from "It's a Wonderful Life"? Little Zuzu has loved her flower to pieces and she hands the bruised little thing and its missing petals to daddy Jimmy Stewart with the tender plea, "paste it, Daddy - paste it!"

Do you ever feel that way? Do you ever want someone to paste your life back together and make all the hurts go away? I do.

Can you imagine what it would be like for a small child to feel that way, and to have no daddy to "make it better"? Or to be nine years old and suddenly become the parent for your younger siblings? Or to be six years old and only know life in an orphanage? Or to be two years old and struggle to find food while living on the streets or in the sewers?

Or to be the dying parent who loves those children and knows that soon they will have no one to care for them...

November is National Adoption Month and today is Orphan Sunday. How can you help the 143,000,000 orphaned children in the world? or the 500,000 children in foster care in America?

One child at a time.

Check out Beyond Orphan Sunday for some great ideas that you can do.
And, if you really want an moving experience - sit at the Orphan's Table.

One more great link from someone who knows what it's like to answer the call.
Perspective

Time to "paste it" and with our Father's help, we can.

Praying for the orphans,
Kathy

The tall and the short of it... Funtry Friday!

Not hard to tell who is tall and who is short here!

This gives you a better idea of what size a miniature horse really is.  And, by the way, Raven (on the left) and Izzy (on the right) have their ears aimed backwards because they are looking at each other and Crystal (in the background) has her ears forward because she is looking at Raven and Izzy. You can tell where a horse is looking by the position of their ears. And, yes, their eyes can move independently of each other, and when they do each ear will show where the eye on that side is looking.

Another interesting thing about horses is that they can sleep standing up; however, they never sleep soundly unless they are laying down. Raven is just waking up here. When sleeping, they will rest their chin on the ground or sleep flat on one side - but only when they are confident that they are safe.

Since a horse is a "prey animal", these things help them to escape their predators quickly should the need arise.

Goats, on the other hand, will sleep in all sorts of positions.  Doesn't this make you want to go take a nap???

Three different goats, all napping in three different positions! Love the dangling foot...

Adding to the napping fun, here is Mama Hen and her two little chicks getting ready for a cozy night's sleep.

They are almost as tall as her and it won't be long before they are as big as she is. By the way, they still sleep tucked under her wings - which is very cute to see!

Here are our tall mountains with the snow they had last week. What?! Do I hear laughing? Hey! For here, the San Francisco Peaks are tall (12,633 feet - 3,851 m - in elevation). And that white stuff is snow! Yes, there will be more snow later...

Well, now that I have seen that snow (even though it is already melted) I want to go cozy up and get warm. Wonder if there are any late fall sun puddles to be had around here...

Happy Funtry Friday! Hope you manage a little fun in the country this weekend, too.
